Dedi Irwansyah officially holds the doctoral degree after undergoing the Doctoral Promotion Examination today (11/10) at. 11.00-13.00 WIB in Room 3.11, Yogyakarta State University (UNY) Postgraduate Program Hall. The lecturer who is familiarly called Dedi earned his Doctorate title after defending a dissertation with the title "Developing A Literature-Based Reading Intructional Model For Students Of The English Department At Islam-Affiliated University" in front of Prof. Margana, M. Hum, MA., Dr. Agus Widyantoro, Prof. Dr. Burhan Nurgiyantoro, Prof. Sugirin, Ph.D, Prof. Suwarsih Madya, Ph.D, and Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan, MA. M. Phil. Ph.D.

Dedi successfully becomes the first person who holds the Doctoral degree among his classmates and also the third person who gets the Doctoral degree from the Language Education Science Study Program at UNY. Currently Dedi is a lecturer at the Metro State Islamic Institute (IAIN) who also serves as the Head of the Research and Publishing Center at the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) IAIN Metro.

One of the examiners, Prof. Margana stated that Dedi should have graduated cum laude. "His GPA was 3.99", he said. However, this predicate could not be given because he had passed the study period of more than four years.

Also present to witness, Dr. Suhairi, S.Ag., MH (Deputy Rector for Academic and Institutional Affairs of IAIN metro), Dr. Zainal Abidin, M. Ag (Chairperson of the LPPM), Dra. Isti Fathonah, MA (Deputy Dean for Student Affairs and Cooperation of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training), Imam Mustofa, M.Si (Secretary of LPPM), Susi Yulianti, SH, MH (Head of the General Sub-Division of FTIK), also attended by lecturers and LPPM staff Rahmah Dwi Nopriyana, M.Kom.I, Ahmad Madzkur, M.Pd and Yeni Suprihatin, M.Pd.

Dr. Suhairi, S.Ag., MH is very proud of the Doctorate title held  by Dedi Irwansyah, "Although he does not get the cum laude, it is relatively fast and, moreover, his GPA is 3.99" he concluded. He hopes that the other lecturers at IAIN Metro who are currently undergoing doctoral studies can be motivated and able to finish their studies immediately.
