FGD FOR THE OPENING OF DOCTORAL PROGRAM OF LANGUAGE EDUCATION SCIENCE

 

Currently the doctoral program of education is a necessity for every lecturer with a Masters degree in order to improve the quality of human resources both personally and institutionally. This also happens to teachers, academic staff, or practitioners for the sake of increasing their professionalism. In this case, Yogyakarta State University can meet these needs.  

The Graduate School of Yogyakarta State University (UNY) will open the doctoral program of Language Education Science doctoral program. This is a program with various concentrations, such as the concentration of Indonesian Language Education, English Language Education, Javanese Language Education, German Language Education, French Language Education, and so on. 

There are quite a lot of competent promoters available, as well as qualified professors and teachers in their fields, both from within UNY and outside UNY, with a curriculum designed appropriately for the program. The facilities and infrastructure are quite complete, such as a library and language laboratory.

In the framework of organizing this program, on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, a Focused Group Discussion was held at the UNY Postgraduate Program Building to discuss the Opening Plan for the Language Education Science doctoral program.

Acting as a speaker was Prof. Darmiyati Zuchdi, Ed.D., while as the discussant from Community Services from Private University Coordination Region V Yogyakarta Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Santoso Wiaganyoharto, other discussants were Prof. Suwarsih Madya, Ph.D., Head of Youth and Sports Education Prov. DIY. Meanwhile, the discussants from outside Yogyakarta came from the Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto, Drs. Sukristianto, M.Pd.

At the event, leaflets were also distributed to prospective students. Present at the event were delegates from Ahmad Dahlan University Yogyakarta, Wiyata Tamansiswa Undergraduate University, Sanada Dharma Yogyakarta University, Muhammadiyah Purworejo University, Muria Kudus University, from LPMP, Muhammadiyah Purwokerto University, and Graduate School Management UNY and Faculty of Languages and Arts UNY. 

The event was intended as a step to get input from various parties regarding the plan to open the doctoral program of Language Education Science at Yogyakarta State University (UNY).
